Ride Share Accidents

Ride sharing, like Uber and Lyft, have become so commonplace in our world now that it is practically unlikely that someone has not used them at least once. Just like company tractors and trailers, rideshare companies are operating for a profit. This means they can be held to a higher standard.

What happens if you are involved in an accident while in-route to your destination? Much depends on who is at fault. Many times, ride share drivers are cautious, and most accidents are a result of another vehicle. In this case, we must investigate the other party’s fault, and run through very similar fact-finding investigations. There may be, however, a bigger policy that can compensate those injuries which warrant it. Ride sharing companies will have insurance to cover this, if the injuries are present, and the proper work is conducted, victims may be adequately compensated.

But what happens when the rideshare driver is at fault? We have had similar cases. One in particular, our clients were being transported to their home, when the rideshare-driver decided to make an illegal left turn resulting in our clients being t-boned on their side. After it was determined that the rideshare driver was at fault, formal demands were made to the rideshare company and after litigation work, the case settled.
